Gbasgbos Surrounding Living Faith Church’s Pastor Salaries

In recent times, the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners’ Chapel, has been at the center of a heated debate regarding the salaries of its pastors.

This controversy came to light when it was revealed that some pastors were being paid as little as 38,000 Naira per month, despite meeting their targets.

The Background
Living Faith Church, led by Bishop David Oyedepo, is one of the largest and most influential churches in Nigeria.

Known for its massive congregations and extensive network of branches, the church has always been in the spotlight for various reasons.

However, the recent revelations about the salaries of its pastors have sparked a new wave of discussions.

The Revelation
The issue came to public attention when a former pastor of the church, Peter Godwin, shared his experience on social media.

According to Godwin, he was employed on August 28, 2020, and was sacked on July 1, 2021, for not generating enough income in his branch.

He disclosed that despite meeting his targets, he and other pastors were paid only 38,000 Naira monthly, shocked to believe any human still earns that low, it’s either the employ is wicked or he wants to breed more thieves in the society.

The Breakdown of Salaries

It was reported that the gross salary for these pastors was 53,000 Naira, what will that do for a human?

And they still have the guts to deduct it, someone that drivers private jet and spends more than 500k daily is paying another man 38,000 naira?

Even though they said is for pension and housing allowances, those pastors are not supposed to be paid less than one million naira monthly

This revelation has raised questions about the church’s financial practices and the treatment of its employees.

The Church’s Response
In response to the outcry, Bishop Oyedepo stated that the pastors were sacked due to their unfruitfulness and inability to generate sufficient income for their branches.

He emphasized that the church employs thousands of people and has never owed salaries or taken bank overdrafts.

Public Reaction
The public reaction has been mixed, while some people support the church’s decision, arguing that performance-based employment is standard practice, others criticize the church for what they see as unfair treatment of its pastors.

The debate continues to rage on social media and in various forums.

Conclusion

The controversy surrounding the salaries of Living Faith Church pastors highlights the broader issues of employment practices and financial transparency within religious organizations.

As the discussion continues, it remains to be seen how the church will address these concerns and what changes, if any, will be implemented.
